Double Entry Journal #10

QUOTE: With Scratch, students shift from media consumers to media producers, creating their own
interactive stories, games, and animations—then sharing their creations on the Web.

RESPONSE: I agree with this segment of the article. Before it talks about how people just waste their time on the web, just to surf, or to pass th time by. But with scratch, it gives people (kids) the opportunity to be creative and produce their own piece of work. And the work can be meaningful to them, or not, it is up to them. With the scratch program, it is a great chance for people  to be the creator, and using logic as to when sound effects should take place, or when characters (Sprites) should move where.

This video is mainly about scratch, and how to work it. People are able to create their own types of works that are special to them in some way. Designed solely for them.

  1. You made a good point on kids being creative in Scratch. When kids are allowed to play around games and create their own animation at the same time, they tend to spend time working more or building on what they have. In the end, the kids cognitive shills are enhanced.
